I already had a 15 lb weighted blanket, which was wonderful insofar as the weight and softness, but a real problem because microfiber is WAY TOO HOT for me. So I looked for one which was cotton, and found this one. It's perfect! I took the old blanket off my bed and put the new one on, and had the same weight without the overheating issue.I have never slept well without a pile of blankets on me to get the soothing weight I need. Thank God for weighted blankets! Now I can have the weight even if it is not that cold in our house (which is never is due to the heat/AC settings). We keep our house at 66 degrees at night, and it is a couple of degrees cooler in the master bedroom. At that temp, I do use a cotton blanket as well as the weighted blanket. If your bedroom gets cooler than that, you might still need another blanket or two.If you have much colder sleeping temps you can probably go with the microfiber versions of weighted blankets, and baste yourself in self-generated, retained heat. But you can still use this cotton version for warmer temps. The construction of this blanket is very high quality. Sturdy and well-structured. The cotton is a quality smooth finish. It is not velvety or plushy soft. Which is just what I wanted. It has loops for you to tie a duvet cover. I would never bother with this because I like the appearance of the blue 60 x 80 that I purchased, and I simply have no need to cover it up. It is washable, though I probably won't do it in my home washer, which is old and wimpy. The instructions email I received after purchase said that the blanket is supposed to lie flat across the top of the bed, and that if you size it so that it hangs off the bed, it will try to slide off during the night. Nope. While I can see that might be an issue if you have a smaller bed, we have a king sized bed and I have the 60x80 on my side of the bed, which means it hangs off the side of the bed by well over a foot. That's not enough to cause slippage of any kind.I have cotton sheets. If I had silk or satin or any other slippery sheets, maybe this would be more of a problem. But My blanket stays put, despite tossing and turning.I do find the weight very calming. Like Temple Grandin describes in her books, the squeezing or pressure relaxes and reduces anxiety for me.UPDATE: This is perfect for cooler fall temperatures. I'm sleeping so well now. Was a little too warm for summer but can definitely recommend for fall.Awhile back I had purchased a different brand larger sized (60x80) blanket for my full/double sized bed. This didn't work as it was too big and was hanging off the bed and the beads were shifting to the edge of the bed. I finally realized that I needed to get a smaller sized blanket in order for this to really work. I read up on this royal therapy blanket and saw all the good reviews and took a chance with it and am glad that I did. I got this in the 48x78 size and it fills my full sized best exactly as it's supposed to. It just hits the edge of the bed from side to side and is plenty long enough from top to bottom. I am 5'4 and around 130lbs and had been told that a 15lb blanket would be best but got this royal therapy blanket in a 20lb weight and love it. It's heavy so be forewarned that it may not be for everyone but I like the extra weight. The material is a soft cotton and seems really well made. I'm not noticing the beads shifting around much which is good, too. I purchased this in the Aqua color and it is beautiful. A nice lighter/pastel type color (lighter than in the picture shown). The reasons for the 4 star rating are a) price and b) temp control. It was a bit more than I had wanted to spend for a smaller sized blanket. The had a small percent off sale but I was never able to find it for any cheaper than that (don't seem to ever have sales on these). I am a very warm sleeper and deal with night sweats and was hoping that this would help with that but unfortunately, it's not really a "cooling blanket". It doesn't make me as warm as other blankets have in the past, but I don't think I'd really recommend it for summer time. Would probably be a good spring/fall blanket as it is thinner but still has warmth to it. I would still highly recommend this blanket for the quality, though.I read a lot about this weighted blanket and the seller before the purchase…like other extreme marketing ploys, I thought this to be a lot like hype…I thought. However, when I got it home, I was first impressed by the weight distribution, the softness and the quality of stitching. Still skeptical, I placed it on my queen-sized bed and found it covers it nicely, a lot better than the competition. Unlike the competition, this company provided the product itself, but, they followed up to make sure that the quality and delivery were at or above my standards (they are). They even went as far as to give care instructions and offered assistance if there was anything wrong with the product…wow, who knew? I’m highly impressed and look forward to using this blanket many years to come…review update scheduled for spring 2022 to ensure that I still feel the same way after washing a few times and still using. So, far…this is great!!! Well, worth the $$$.Bought this blanket for Restless Leg Syndrom. It worked immediately. I was surprised. I can't go to bed without it. My depression and anxiety has not increased, it actually gives me a relaxation and calmness I so desired. It's a soft blanket. Heavy but not if you can believe that. I have a queen size so I get in it like a cocoon. It's like being in a big bear hug. Use to wake 3 or 4 times a night but not now. I have actually slept all night a few times.. I'm 70 years old and don't get many hugs these days plus I deal with arthritis so a good night's sleep was far and inbetween. This blanket is soft and let's your body breathe. I have a 20lb weighted blanket. I thought it would be uncomfortable but it's not. You do get a good night's sleep and feel rested. The material seems to adjust to my body temp. You can wash and dry it but because of it's (queen size) you take it to a commercial laundry. Be sure to get the right size. Its determined by your height. The best part - it has a 5 year guarantee. That's a plus for me. I should leave this blanket in my will, its that good.I have suffered from insomnia for most of my life. This weighted blanket is the perfect weight to stop me from flopping around (and having restless legs) so that I can relax and fall asleep faster. Feels like a reassuring hug that calms my busy brain at night. It does add an extra layer of warmth, so not sure how I will fare in the summer...am thinking I will use the weighted blanket instead of my comforter. And - it is a gorgeous gold colour which nicely complements my bedroom decour!Al principio no conocía estas mantas pesadas.Pero después de usarla, puedo decir que es maravillosa. Para la temporada de frío, te mantiene cobijado.Muy suave, super rica, pesa pero es algo que se siente muy confortable 100% recomendable
